Q Why do I need General Liability insurance?
A If you own property and / or run a business you could be held legally liable for personal injury or property damage caused to third parties by these activities.
Q What if the legal action against you is groundless?
A The policy will defend on your behalf any suit against you even if it is groundless, false or fraudulent.
Q Do I need to take Professional Indemnity insurance?
A If you are providing professional advice or owe a professional duty to a customer, you will need Professional Indemnity insurance to provide some cover against possible actions brought against you in a court of law.
Q What is a 'retro-active' date and what is its effect?
A A 'retro-active' date is used in a claims made policy.  Any claim arising out of acts, errors or omissions giving rise to the claim that occurred before the retro-active date will not be covered.
Q Why does my business need Workers Compensation cover?
A In any business, a major asset is the workforce.  You will normally be legally required to provide Workers Compensation cover against liability of injury costs to your workers, sustained at a workplace.
Q Are sole traders covered by their own policy?
A Sole traders are people who work for themselves but have not formed a company to work under.  Unless sole traders can be regarded as working directors, they cannot cover themselves. Sole traders should consider taking out a personal accident and illness policy or an income protection policy.
Q Are contractors deemed workers under Workers Compensation policy?
A Contractors may be deemed a worker for the purposes of workers compensation.  Please refer to your country's Labour Authorities for the definition of a worker under the legislation in the country.
